Vietnam Province Probes Suspect in Child Molestation after President’s Request

The People’s Procuracy in Vietnam’s southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on Mar 27 decided to prosecute a 77-year-old man for alleged child sexual assault, according to state media.

The suspect named Nguyen Khac Thuy is out on bail due to oldness.

Mr. Thuy was denounced to conduct child sexual abuse between 2012 and 2016 by four families which live in Lakeside apartment block in Vung Tau city.

In August 2016, local police probed the case under public pressure. But the investigation has been stalled for seven months, according to the newswire VnExpress.

The case has not been stirred up until President Tran Dai Quang earlier this month asked the Ministry of Public Security and the Supreme People’s Procuracy to step in the case.
