CASE OVERVIEW

Father Ly, a 69 year old priest and human rights activist is currently serving eight years in prison for peacefully promoting democracy and freedom of speech. Father Ly’s trial was grossly unfair as he was gagged and without legal representation.

This isn’t the first time Father Ly has been in prison for peaceful activism. He’s been punished by Vietnamese officials for 20 years of his life.

Sadly, his health is declining after recently suffering a stroke. Father Ly is now paralysed and is in need of proper medical care.
